Washington Capitals Surprise Hockey Fan
Fatima Al Ali is a player on the United Arab Emirates Women’s National hockey team. She began her interest in hockey in 2008 when she worked as a photographer for the men’s team and by 2011 she had begun playing the sport. Since then, she has become a very talented player, or at least that is what Peter Bondra of the Washington Capitals thought when he met her.
Bondra met Al Ali in Abu Dhabi while coaching at the Pavilkovsky Hockey School and was shocked by her impressive hockey skills. When Peter learned that Fatima was also a fan of the Capitals, he and his teammates surprised her with plane tickets and an invitation to one of their games.
Bondra called Al Ali to deliver the news that she has been invited to attend a game in February at the Verizon Center and to serve as a representative of the “Hockey is for Everyone” campaign. Along with that, she will have the privilege of meeting her favorite hockey player, Alex Ovechkin and the rest of his teammates. Al Ali shed tears of joy as Bondra elaborated on his gift to her. Keep your eye out for this girl; she might be the next big name in hockey!
