As the new year settles in, everyone has different things to look forward to. Some people wait patiently for movies to come out in theaters, others follow the release date of their favorite band. Some of us scan the lists of the hundreds of upcoming video games: big ticket, indie, FPS, strategy, RPG, and many more. It can be tedious to look through some of these seemingly endless lists, so provided below is a list of some of the most hyped up and innovative games coming our way in 2017.

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

About: Postponed to 2017, Nintendo’s newest Legend of Zelda is claimed to have the biggest open world in the series so far, as well as a new-and-improved AI system. Not much about the story has been released so far.

About: A mixture between next gen and classic 18 bit, this indie game focuses around a discovery of an ancient tablet and the mystery that resides behind it.

About: Although not much information has been released, Arkane Studios’ Prey looks to have a “Groundhog’s Day-esque timeloop” (NerdMuch) within its evolving storyline.

About: Striving to bring back the classic shooters, this World War 2 based game is built upon raw skill instead of unlocks and abilities.

About: Delayed for better graphics, Horizon Zero Dawn is focused around a lone hunter in the futuristic wilds, surviving using her wit and agility.

About: The last member of the dragon race and a seemingly normal guy bond together in this adventure made by the developers of Bayonetta.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
Release Date: January 24, 2017
About: The next installment in the series switches to a first person outlook and next gen graphics, possibly going as far as photo realistic. Based in rural America, new fears will be experienced in this chapter. NOTICE: This game is rated M for Mature due to violence.

Days Gone
Release Date: 2017
About: Many good and bad zombie games have passed, but this one seems to be a fresh mind in a well-walked path. Days Gone does not look like it will have a multiplayer mechanic, but its incredible open world makes up for it. NOTICE: Although the rating is pending, this game is likely to be rated M due to violence.
