How To: Removing Permanent Marker
Whoops! Another stain. We’ve all had that moment where we accidentally stained our clothes or our belongings with permanent marker! While it might seem that it’ll never come off, (after all, the marker is labeled permanent in caps!) there are several ways it can disappear. The good news is, all these techniques only need common household items!
Clothes
Permanent marker on your clothes? Simply rub hand sanitizer on the stained spot and leave it for several minutes until it settles. Then, wash the area with soap and hot water.
Walls
Use toothpaste to remove stains from walls. You can also use hairspray if you wish. Just make sure to not rub hard; the paint might peel off!
Wood
Rubbing alcohol is perfect for removing permanent marker on wood. Allow it to settle for a few minutes before rubbing it off.
Carpet
Use white vinegar for stains on carpet. If there’s a strong smell from the vinegar, spray carpet freshener and voilà! Good as new.
Furniture
Instead of water, opt for milk! Use milk sparingly to clean permanent marker stains.
White Board
Accidently used a permanent marker instead of a dry erase one? No problem! Simply trace the permanent marks on the whiteboard with a dry erase marker. Then, grab the eraser and erase the whiteboard. Another way is to use a pencil eraser.
Ceramic / Glass
Mix 1 part toothpaste with 1 part baking soda, and apply it to the stained area. Leave it for several minutes, and wipe off.
Using these techniques saves time and money! The next time a mark stain is spotted, try removing it using one of the methods above. We can all use a little shortcut in our lives!
