Delicious DIY Candy Turkey
What is Thanksgiving known for? Yes, mostly giving thanks, but also the turkey! What is Thanksgiving without the turkey? This delicious candy turkey is a great craft idea for all ages, and does not require many materials.
Ingredients:
- 2 large marshmallows
- 2 licorice twists
- handful of candy corn
- tbsp. granulated sugar
- 2 button-shaped chocolate candies
- cake decorating gels (optional)
Step 1: Rinse marshmallows under cool water to wash the cornstarch off. Then stick the rinsed marshmallows together to form the turkey’s head and body.
Step 2: Melt granulated sugar in a small pot heated at 200 degrees Fahrenheit with adult supervision. Be careful not to burn the sugar!
Step 3: Slice licorice twists in half with a sharp knife. Adult supervision is recommended.
Step 4: When the sugar is melted, put some of the sugar on two pieces of candy corn. Attach the candy corn to the licorice twists to form the feet of the turkey.
Step 5: Once both of the candy corn pieces are attached to the licorice twists, put some melted sugar on the top side of the licorice twists. Then stick the candy to the underside of the marshmallow body that you prepped earlier. Now the turkey has legs and feet!
Step 6: Stick a third piece of candy corn using the sugar as glue in the center of the turkey’s head to represent a beak. Then, stick two button-shaped chocolate candies above the candy corn beak for eyes.
Step 7: (optional): Draw a beard using cake decorating gel. If desired, you can also draw some extra cool details on the turkey.
Now you can make your own candy turkey!
