Alone on Valentine’s Day
By Piper F.
Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching. Perhaps you have a “valentine”, or maybe you’re like me and you do not. I’ve asked around, and I’m here to tell you why it is one-hundred-percent okay not be in a relationship on Valentine’s Day.
Firstly, Valentine’s Day is considered a gift-giving holiday, and if you aren’t in a relationship, you do not have to waste your money on gifts for your “valentine.” Also, for the girls out there, if your man forgot that it’s Valentine’s Day, you have been saved from a fight which would likely leave you feeling very sad and alone. Thirdly, maybe you can meet someone new. You have a whole world of people at your fingertips. Girls, go flirt with the cute guy at the register at the grocery store. Guys, go sit with the pretty girl alone at the coffee shop. Fourth, Valentine’s Day is a day to spend with people you love. So go out with your family or your best friend. Platonic love is love just the same. Lastly, and most importantly, you do not need a man or woman to complete you. You deserve more than to just settle for any old person. If you’re alone this Valentine’s Day, know that it doesn’t make you worthless or unlovable. You are perfect just the way you are.
